This 2-hour session can be bespoke to address specific workplace issues, such as Hepatitis B or be generalised to cover a number of common infectious agents.
All courses will cover prevention of infection, universal hygiene precautions such as hand washing and safe disposal of infected materials/substances.
Target group
All employees who may come into contact with body fluids and other potentially infectious material at work
All front-line workers at risk of passing on infection to vulnerable service users.
Course objectives
Enable staff to develop and utilise safe systems of work to minimise any infection risk.
Enable staff to develop strategies that will enable them to minimise risks of contracting or passing on infection.
The study topics include
Coventry City Council Policy and guidance on infectious diseases
How infectious agents are spread
Risk assessment and identifying hazards
Developing safe systems of work
Preventative action to minimise risks – universal hygiene precautions
Dealing safely with body fluids
Disposal of infected waste
