Course Details

This course introduces students to concepts and theories in preparation of advanced Information Technology (IT) courses.

Students gain foundations in programming, non-relational databases, user interface design, system analysis and testing, along with the impact of IT on society. Hands-on explorations form an important component of this course.

 

 

Learning Outcomes:

  • 1Understand basic concepts of programming, user interface design, non-relational data storage, systems analysis and testing.

  • 2Systematically design and create a mobile app prototype using a visual environment.

  • 3Understand principles of system architecture.

  • 4Discuss social, ethical and security implications of software applications and emerging technologies.

  • 5Provide constructive feedback on other students’ work and incorporate feedback into their own work.
