Description

Four weeks of learning custom quilting techniques, 16 hours of custom quilting classes in person!

This free motion class can be taken by any skill level, from the beginner to the expert. In this class you will learn the fundamentals of custom quilting design and techniques, as well as master techniques which will aid you in your quilting journey. You will be learning from Master Quilter, Eva Ellison. This class will hold each student accountable for the work that they do and everyone will share their work each week.

You will spend one afternoon every week learning new techniques, practice drawing designs, and practice quilting these designs on our APQS longarm machines. You can then transfer these skills to your own machine. Each week you will need to dedicate some personal time to drawing and practicing what you lean so that you can build muscle memory. After each week’s lesson, the following week you will bring in your drawing or quilting samples for a quick review with the class.

You only need to bring a sketchpad and your favorite drawing utensil. We will provide you with all other materials needed for the in-person learning. Over 100 pages of training documentation, as well as the designs required to complete this course.

Class Overview:

  • Week One: Fundamental quilting designs. Building blocks for most quilting shapes.

  • Week Two: Feathers, stems, feathers in blocks, borders and various shapes.

  • Week Three: Finding your quilting path. Moving through various quilt blocks without breaking thread.

  • Week Four: Even more custom quilting techniques such as background filler and ruler work.
