DurationIntro to Filmmaking is a 4-part introductory workshop for artists who are interested in learning how to work with video. This hands-on workshop provides artists with camera, audio, and lighting basics from pre- to post-production.
Under the guidance of filmmaker Aia Raafat, participants will gain experience handling equipment, learn how to set up for a video shoot, and complete exercises to simulate various shooting conditions and situations.
Participants will work together in small groups to produce a short video.
Topics include: pre-production, scripts and storyboards basics, camera basics, shooting techniques, lighting techniques, cinematography basics, audio production basics, and an introduction to video editing with DaVinci Resolve.
This is an in-person workshop offered at Digital Arts Resource Centre (67 Nicholas St, Ottawa) and the DARC SOUNDSTAGE. To participate in this workshop, all participants must be fully vaccinated and wear a mask while on site at DARC.

Whether your goal is to work in film, create captivating online content, or explore videography as a hobby, our structured programs will give you the tools you need to succeed.
Small class sizes provide focused, individualized training and plenty of one-on-one time with industry-professional instructors, building your artistic strength and awareness through real experience.
In 12 months you will graduate with A diploma in Film Production
You will each get an opportunity to write, direct, operate the camera, lighting, acting, and various assisting roles.
