Intro to Filmmaking is a 4-part introductory workshop for artists who are interested in learning how to work with video. This hands-on workshop provides artists with camera, audio, and lighting basics from pre- to post-production.
Under the guidance of filmmaker Aia Raafat, participants will gain experience handling equipment, learn how to set up for a video shoot, and complete exercises to simulate various shooting conditions and situations.
Participants will work together in small groups to produce a short video.
Topics include: pre-production, scripts and storyboards basics, camera basics, shooting techniques, lighting techniques, cinematography basics, audio production basics, and an introduction to video editing with DaVinci Resolve.
This is an in-person workshop offered at Digital Arts Resource Centre (67 Nicholas St, Ottawa) and the DARC SOUNDSTAGE. To participate in this workshop, all participants must be fully vaccinated and wear a mask while on site at DARC.

In this program, you’ll learn to produce videos, live productions, social media content and motion graphics using professional equipment, including 4K video production equipment and video drones.
You will each get an opportunity to write, direct, operate the camera, lighting, acting, and various assisting roles.
In the Film and Television Production program, students receive hands-on experience on a variety of projects, including short films, web series, television broadcasts, commercials and much more!
Graduating students will be participating in 4 workshops: Filmmaking, Acting on Camera and Photography, creating memorable movie (Flash-mob on their favorite song) and making pictures for their own scrapbooks.
This course provides opportunities for students who already have many skills in this area to further their education in film and video work. Â
