This course is great for individuals who have never pattern drafted before, but wish to eventually learn garment pattern drafting. Work step by step in pattern drafting and stitching up a three dimensional tote around bag. Great balance of both essential skills in fashion design.
Clients will learn how to take desired measurements, create a working pattern and final cutting patterns in preparation to cut and sew a bag.
Studio is fully equipped with equipment and supplies. Notes will be provided. Student material list will be available after pattern drafting portion is complete.
Pre-Requisite: Intro to Sewing course or basic sewing skills.
Techniques Covered:
How to use a variety of pattern drafting tools including a French curve, L rulers and grid rulers.
How to draft and sew major garment design elements such as facings, patch pockets, inseam pockets, straps and lining.
Understand the importance of working patterns and cutting patterns.
Understand how to create notches, grainlines and label patterns for cutting.
Cutting and construction of the drafted bag.
