In this 2 part workshop (6 hours total), you will learn to make your own boxy tee, start to finish. This hands-on beginner class will introduce you to the fundamentals of pattern making.
Part 1 includes taking your own measurements, drafting a pattern and testing the fit in muslin. You will then learn how to create design elements within your pattern. Part 2 includes cutting and sewing your own garment.
Students will purchase their own fabric for their Tee. All other materials included. Fabric to purchase: 1 yard of light to medium weight woven cotton fabric plus 1 yard of contrast color woven cotton fabric (i.e. 1 yard red + 1 yard blue), or 2 yards of one single fabric if preferred. Prewashing your fabric is advised.
25 years later, after completing a degree in Fashion Design, running 2 self-owned clothing lines, and raising 2 young girls, I have started something new. A new chapter, a new purpose. I think back to the “gift” my mother gave me when I was 12 and I want to give it to you!
In this 3-class series, you will bring your favorite garments and we will choose one that best fits your sewing experience level and the time required to complete it. I’ll show you how to lay out and trace the individual parts of the garment, create a pattern, and sew your clone.
Pattern Making class is offered by EWS Fashion Design Academy for all skill level.
You will learn how to draw the fashion figure; understand fabrics and how they are drawn; terminology of garment details; culminating in the creation of a mini fashion illustration presentation, including a mood board with fashion illustrations and fabric swatches.
