You will not need an interview for Introduction to BSL – you can enrol directly.
You will need to have basic literacy skills as you will be asked to write some self-evaluations.

All our language classes are centered around our students and have been designed to develop practical language skills. Each course will run from September to May. Each week you will attend a two-hour class to help progress and consolidate your learning around the four core skills of listening.
Learning British Sign Language will help you to engage with the Deaf community. The course will teach you how to sign the alphabet, how to introduce yourself using sign language and some other basic sign language.
You will study all aspects of deafness as a social and cultural phenomenon. You will be immersed in Deaf culture, history and education, will develop fluency in British Sign Language and will learn sign linguistics and the theories surrounding BSL/English interpreting.
Our Foundation courses are only 15 weeks long during term times and are free from the pressures of exam testing - whilst still giving you option to add on exams at the end of your course, (if you want to). We currently offer foundation courses in Level 1 and 2 - which plans to expand even further.
