“Digital Literacy” is a life skill. Computers, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT's) have changed the world more than any other invention over the past one hundred years.

Not everyone has had the opportunity to grow up with computers. This course is for those who have very little or no knowledge on how to use a computer or the internet and want to understand and enjoy the benefits they offer.
We will take you step-by-step through the very basics like using a mouse and a keyboard, working with files and folders, searching the internet and sending emails.
To help you practise these new skills, a series of exercises will be done in class alongside your instructor. As your confidence grows, you will be able to download files from the Internet and save information to a removable storage device or USB.
Course details:
Computer basics will include how to identify the main parts of a computer, how to use a keyboard and mouse and common computer terminology.
Identify the components of a modern Windows interface, manage files and folders in Windows Explorer, and perform basic file operations.
In ‘The Internet” section, you will cover topics like using WWW (World Wide Web), Email and saving files. You will also learn how to stay safe online following the guidelines set by the Australian Cyber Security Centre.
Students will be shown some basics of Microsoft Office in parts of this course.
Students will be using Windows 10 computers and Microsoft 2016.
This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register.
