Creative writing courses taught by New Zealand’s inspiring authors. We believe everyone is creative, everyone has a story to tell, and everyone can be shown the skills used by professional authors. Located at 23 Princes Street on the edge of beautiful Albert Park, we offer a vibrant atmosphere in which to learn these skills and have fun in the Auckland CBD. Our courses are also online. Our tutors include many well-known authors, including Fiona Sussman, Eileen Merriman, Elizabeth Smither and Commonwealth Prize Winner John Cranna. Three of our tutors have won the Prime Minister's Award for Literary Achievement.
Poet and best selling author Dominic Hoey is running a one day creative writing workshop at The AMP building. Entitled ‘Learn To Write Good’, the workshops covers the fundamentals of creative writing and is open to everyone from poets to song writers to novelists.
This course will cover the tools writers use to write fiction, in either long or short form. We will begin by developing a character to be central to a piece of fiction. From there we will go on to workshop story, tone and setting.
