Introduction To Shooting Sports

I have been blessed to have the distinction of having represented India for 21 years at the highest level. As a flag-bearer of Indian Rifle Shooting along with my worthy peers, I feel deeply obliged to give back to my country everything I have got to make more and more Olympians and Champions from the land that gave me my identity, my very purpose of being!

In this quest to fulfill my obligation to the nation, I founded the ‘Lakshya Shooting Club’, a no-profit enterprise, back in 2006 with my supportive and encouraging husband Siddharth Shirur in-charge of implementing my ideas, my plans, and my dreams.

I have been extremely lucky to have a great bunch of hardworking and talented shooters train under me and assist me in coaching.We specialize in the propagation of the scientific art of Shooting which I myself learnt from my Coaches Gaby Buhlmann and Heinz Reinkemeier of Germany.

What Lakshya Shooting Club brings to the table is the expertise and scientific dimension to shooting. I believe that shooting (or any sport for that matter) backed by a scientific base has a tactical advantage over periodic spurts of brilliance.

In 2018 Lakshya Shooting Club achieved a major milestone; it got recognition as one of the six Khelo India Shooting Academies of the country. The Khelo India Academy tag brings with it pride and responsibility and Lakshya is only growing from strength to strength along with its most valued asset – our shooters!

All my life, I worked towards going to the Olympics. I experienced great joy when I qualified for the Olympics with a world record score and eventually made it to the finals at the Athens Olympics, 2004.
