An introductory flight at The Ottawa Flying Club is the perfect way to experience what it’s like to fly an airplane!

Whether you are wondering if you would like to get a pilots licence or just want to see what it’s like, an introductory lesson is a great experience.

Under the supervision of one of our experienced instructors, you will be taken up in one of our aircraft and have given the opportunity to take the controls. Feel what it’s like to fly an airplane and see what Ottawa looks like from above.

First Step:

Once you have decided to start your flight training, now’s the time to sign up for the next Private Pilot Ground School class and begin your flight training sessions with an instructor. You will be paired up with a flight instructor who will work with you through all your flight training sessions and help you advance through all the stages of your flight training.

Most people choose to begin their flight training with a Private Pilot Licence because of the many options it offers after completion. Whether you are flying for recreation or for a career this is the place to start.

 

Training Options:

Private Pilot Licence (PPL)
Privileges:

  • Fly a single-engine aircraft with passengers
  • Fly during daylight hours
  • Fly in VFR (visual flight rules) weather conditions

 

Optional Additional Ratings / Privileges:

  • Night rating
  • Instrument rating
  • Multi-engine rating
  • VFR over-the-top rating
  • Seaplane/Float rating

 

Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL)
Privileges:

  • All privileges from the PPL
  • Fly at night (night rating is included in the CPL)
  • Fly an aircraft for hire or reward

 

Optional Additional Rating / Privileges:

  • Instrument rating
  • Multi-engine rating
  • VFR over-the-top rating
  • Seaplane/Float rating
  • Instructor rating

 

Prequisites:

  • Private Pilot Licence

 

Aviation Medical:

  • All pilots are required to complete an aviation medical on a regular basis. The frequency and category of medical depends on the licence or permit the student is training for.
