JAPN 101
Introductory Japanese I
3 Credits

This is an introductory course for students with little or no background in Japanese or whose native language is not Japanese. The four language skills of oral/aural comprehension, speaking, as well as basic reading and writing are emphasized. In addition, students are acquainted with some aspects of Japanese culture.

Note: Students with native or near-native proficiency in Japanese cannot take this course. Heritage speakers must consult the department prior to registration. Students with a proficiency level beyond this course may be directed to a higher-level course. This includes those students with credit in Japanese 30, 35 or equivalent.
