Investment And Finance (Intro)

This course aims to introduce participants to essential concepts and techniques in Investment and Finance and aims to provide an understanding of financial institutions and investment parameters in South Africa. The course aims to improve the level of competency of financial practitioners, investors and participants.

Course Outcomes:

• Explain the strategic management process;
• Describe the role of Vision and Mission statements as a means to set strategic direction;
• Discuss the techniques used in an internal environmental analysis in strategy formulation;
• Describe all of the elements of an external environmental analysis and explain how they relate to strategy formulation;
• Outline and distinguish the key features of the different business strategies;
• Identify and describe the strategies applicable to the different stages of the industry lifecycle;
• Examine the barriers to successful strategy implementation;
• Define leadership and corporate culture as drivers of strategy implementation;
• Analyse and discuss the use of organisational design as a key aspect of strategy implementation;
• Explain the relationship between strategic controls and strategy implementation;
• Define Corporate Governance and explain the link between Governance and Strategy;
• Describe the strategy and orientation of international business.
