In the present global scenario of rapid technological developments and changing economic environment, ‘work culture’ as well as ‘skill expectations’ from employers or industries are changing continuously.

As per the market survey, there is acute shortage of skilled manpower in our country. Recent educational reforms like NEP-2020 are also focussing on competency building, employability, productivity and entrepreneurship skills.

The gap between industry and academia i.e., the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower is widening, day by day. In other words, what is taught in the institutes and what is required or expected by the industries are differing much! Lack of vocational or professional skills makes it difficult for the youth to adapt to changing demands and technologies of the market place.

Vision:

MSDC has been established to bridge the large gap in the demand and supply of skilled manpower in the Country and to equip the youth with appropriate skills to gain proper employment to help the Country in leveraging the Demographic Advantage of its youngster population in the World.

Dr TMA Pai Foundation has decided to create a world-class skill development Center at Manipal to meet the aspirations of its founder Dr. TMA Pai to address the challenge of imparting the skills required by a growing youth of the Country.

Mission:

Identify industry relevant skill areas and offer skills training and certification at NSQF levels 5 to 10 including training of trainers  and research in skill gaps in the Country.

Arrange significant industry involvement in its programs and ensure apprenticeships and placements at the appropriate levels.

Bring up the TMA Pai Polytechnic and other institutes run by the Foundation to international standards.

Convert Dr TMA Pai Polytechnic into a degree college and subsequently into a skill university.
