King Edward VII School is a confident, ambitious learning community where a culture of high expectations exists for students, staff and governors. Although we have six main feeder schools, young learners join us from across the City of Sheffield as a direct result of parental preference. King Edward VII School has a large and very successful Sixth Form.
The School is incredibly diverse and this is something that we value and see as a unique strength in that young people experience, first hand, a special, harmonious learning community that acknowledges differences, enhances tolerance and prepares them well for life in a global world that is becoming increasingly challenging.
Italian language classes are offered by The University of Sheffield.
Learning a new language is like growing a new head”, a European friend told me long ago. “You see with new eyes, hear with new ears, speak with a new tongue.” Neuroimaging has proved her right. The mental gymnastics of groping for even the simplest words in a different language ignites.
Language Class offers the Italian Beginner Course for students with no previous experience, a complete beginner’s course.
Around 85 million people speak Italian including the 59 million inhabitants of Italy itself and around half a million citizens of Switzerland, where it is one of four official languages. Italian is also spoken in parts of several Balkan countries including Albania, Croatia and Slovenia.
Our courses are also focused on specific students’ needs in order to enable teachers to tailor their lessons accordingly.
