Course Details

Around 85 million people speak Italian including the 59 million inhabitants of Italy itself and around half a million citizens of Switzerland, where it is one of four official languages. Italian is also spoken in parts of several Balkan countries including Albania, Croatia and Slovenia, and in former Italian colonies such as Libya, Somalia and Eritrea.

It can even be encountered in parts of France (Corsica and Nice) and even in tiny Monaco. Most of the population of Malta speak Italian and it is the official language of two of the world's smallest countries: San Marino and the Vatican City.

 

Italian Beginners (Level 1)

This is for you if you have no prior knowledge of Italian (or so little that you effectively want to start again from scratch). You will learn basic skills to enable you to make yourself understood and to find out information in everyday situations.

 

Italian Post-beginners (Level 2)

You can already manage everyday situations using the present tense. You have reached the A1 level in the ELP self-assessment grid and/or completed the Beginners (level 1) Course.

 

Italian Intermediate (Level 3)

You have reached the A2 level in the ELP self-assessment grid (equivalent to a good grade at GSCE) and/or completed the Post-beginners (level 2) Course.

 

Italian Upper-intermediate (Level 4)

You have reached the first half of the B1 level in the ELP self-assessment grid (equivalent to an A-Level grade F to C) and/or completed the Intermediate (level 3) course.

These courses will be taught in a small group. It requires a minimum of 7 and it can have up to a maximum of 12 students. Course fee includes all tuition, access to VLE (virtual learning environment), handouts, and any tests/exams, but not a textbook.

 

Italian Advanced (Level 5)

You have reached the full B1 level in the ELP self-assessment grid(equivalent to an A-Level grade A or B) and/or completed the Upper-intermediate (level 4) course.

 

Italian Post-advanced (Level 6)

You have reached the full B1 level in the ELP self-assessment grid(equivalent to an A-Level grade A or B) and/or completed the Advanced (level 5) course.
