About Me
My name is Justine Thornton. I am a fully qualified therapist having run my own private practice in Wolverhampton since 2002. I now have a clinic based in Kings Heath. I also run a training school offering courses for new and experienced therapists.
If you asked me what my speciality was, it would be hard to say, as I enjoy all aspects of my work and have a very flexible approach to my treatments, one size definitely does not fit all! For example, if you book a massage with me, I will draw on elements of holistic, NO HANDS, remedial, aromatherapy or other massage techniques to bring something unique to you and fitting for what you need that day. I apply the same logic to my mind therapies, I specialise in Natural Healing, it can be life changing, altering core beliefs, increasing confidence, reducing pain and is even effective for many allergy sufferers. despite this, I still enjoy mixing other therapies so that you get the best out of your treatment and leave feeling fantastic!
Previously, I worked as an IT Analyst Programmer, until I became seriously ill. During this period of rehabilitation, I discovered the power of complementary therapies and decided that this was the path I wished to pursue.
I have worked as a therapist in many settings, notably for Walsall NHS as a complementary therapist specialising in cancer and palliative care. during this time I delivered massage, aromatherapy, reiki, EFT and relaxation sessions to patients. I was very privileged to work with patients in need of physical and emotional support at a critical time in their lives.
I have also worked in sports clubs, offices, salons and at exhibitions and trade shows. Corporate clients include Relaxa, Shell, Network Rail, Leger Travel and Stoke University.
I take my own personal development very seriously, regularly attending courses and workshops to refresh and enhance my skills. This enables me to bring new skills to students and even more importantly, my clients. I have a Postgraduate in Complementary Therapies from the University of Wolverhampton along with many other professional qualifications.
I strongly believe that prevention is better than cure and focus not just on delivering my treatments, but also on lifestyle adaptations which can support you during recovery and to prevent reoccurrence of any problem, setting you back on the right track, painlessly and effectively.
As a complementary therapy tutor I have delivered accredited courses for ITEC and the AoR (Association of Reflexologists) and am a member of the CThA, AAMET and TATh. This will be an exciting year for me as I look forward to growing my own training school and working with some of the best tutors I have met during my career.
