Course Overview

International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) is a global not-for-profit organisation dedicated to preventing death and disability from trauma through education and emergency trauma care. Founded in 1985 as Basic Trauma Life Support International, ITLS adopted a new name in 2005 to better reflect its global role and impact.

Today, ITLS has more than 90 chapters and training centres in over 35 countries around the world. ITLS is the only prehospital trauma program endorsed by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP).

Medipro has been an ITLS centre for over 15 years delivering to many providers, basic and advanced.

ITLS is accepted internationally as the standard training course for pre-hospital trauma care. Not only are courses taught as a continuing education option, but they are also used as essential curricula in many paramedic, EMT and first responder training programs.

ITLS Completer is the next step if you choose ITLS eTrauma to earn your ITLS Provider certification. The Completer Course is an in-person course that features 8 hours of hands-on skill demonstration, practice, and testing, plus the written exam required for Provider certification.

You will earn your ITLS Provider certification and card at the completion of this course, as well as 8 additional hours of CAPCE credit.

Course syllabus

Take your trauma life support skills to the next level with our International Trauma Life Support Completer Course. Designed to equip healthcare professionals with the essential knowledge and hands-on training, our Skills Stations will cover a wide range of critical areas.

From patient assessment and management to basic and advanced airway management, you’ll gain the confidence and expertise needed to handle any emergency situation.

Learn the proper techniques for spine management, including short SMR devices, emergency rescue, rapid extrication, helmet management and log roll. We’ll also teach you how to use traction splints effectively and master chest decompression and fluid resuscitation techniques.

Certification

Following written and practical examinations a basic or advanced provider certificate will be awarded which is valid for 3 years from International Trauma Life Support.

Pre-entry Criteria

Learners are required to be a responder who requires such training. This can be basic or advanced. The exam and certification you gain will be dependant on your skill grade.
