The course is an introduction to Japanese for any students wishing to learn the language for business, travel and/or everyday use. Students will develop basic skills of conversation, reading, listening and writing in Japanese.

 

Course outline

  • Pronunciation
  • Introducing yourself; address, work, nationalities
  • (Noun A) wa (noun B) desu, (noun A) wa (noun B) dewaarimasen
  • Numbers from 1 to 100, Time (ji / fun - gogo / gozen)
  • Numbers 100 to 1,000,000,000,000 - buying and selling (Japanese notes)
  • Counting object (abstract system and counting system)
  • Demonstrative words (kore, sore, are)

 

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Use basic Japanese effectively for practical communication.
  • Demonstrate the skills, language and attitudes required for further study of Japanese.
