This course introduces Java programming starting with basic programming constructs; moving into object-oriented programming; generics; garbage collection; asynchronous programming; web service and database consumption; input/output and serialization; graphical user interfaces; applets; and finishes with an introduction to Java beans.
The course emphasises new features in Java SE 8 and references the Java language specification wherever possible. Most practical lab exercises have extension components for further (related) study and extension.
