At dbsd we want our dancers to realize their potential and follow their dreams. We have a place for the recreational dancer as well as the full time student. Every dancer and their dance education is equally important at dbsd. Work your hardest, have fun and we will take care of the rest!
Basic Jazz technique – posture control, weight placement, core strength – is very similar to Ballet, so Ballet training is often helpful for the Jazz dancer. Jumps and turns are prominent in Jazz training, and dances are usually performed to upbeat music with style.
The lessons consist of exercises, step learning and choreographic extracts
The classes are energetic, up tempo and an excellent body conditioner. Students will learn dynamic, age appropriate combinations. All jazz students are strongly encouraged to include ballet in their studies to strengthen their technical foundation.
UUC is proud to offer a jazz program that is spirited, contemporary and comprehensive – designed to give students the technique and opportunity to explore various jazz styles from warm-ups to traveling steps and combinations from beginner to advanced.
Jazz is a fun and high energy style of dance! All classes will start with a warm-up and muscle stretch to develop and improve flexibility. Class consists of beginner jazz movements including barre technique, body isolations, traveling steps and learning a routine for competition.
