Jazz originated from popular African American dances and street styles from the mid-twentieth century and continues to evolve and gain popularity today because of iconic artists like Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul, who embraced commercial jazz. Shows like So You Think You Can Dance continued to make contemporary jazz more popular.

Located on the east side of Indianapolis near 56th Street and Binford Boulevard, Phoenix Rising Dance Studios is a beautiful and inviting facility made for dancers by dancers.
Phoenix Rising was intentionally designed by executive director Will Sears-Watson and artistic director Justin David Sears-Watson to be a loving space built on community and inclusivity.
The energetic and colorful space with high ceilings and sprung floors by O’Mara Sprung Floors and Harlequin, invites dancers of all ages and abilities to reach their fullest potential through the art of dance.
A stylized theatrical form of dancing that promotes good posture, strength, technique, and rhythm
Jazz Dance Class is offered by Dance Workshops. We are so excited to host auditions for the 2022-2023 season of Creative Culture Dance Company.
This class combines movements and rhythms of merengue, salsa, mambo, lambada, cha cha, and/or samba with traditional jazz dance technique.
The Xchange Program is Zenon’s work-study program that allows students to volunteer in exchange for dance class credit.
