The high-energy choreography has roots in African dance, with traditional origins of the term coming from any dance performed to Jazz music, including Tap dance and Ragtime.
Jazz pieces involve choreographed combinations of vernacular movements such as:
The Charleston,
Lindy Hop,
And Mambo.

Our Artistic Director and Owner, Lisa Svecla, has worked hard alongside our highly-qualified dance Faculty to ensure a caring, focused, and challenging experience for all students. The classes are energetic, up tempo and an excellent body conditioner. Students will learn dynamic, age appropriate combinations. All jazz students are strongly encouraged to include ballet in their studies to strengthen their technical foundation.
The jazz syllabus is also based on a graded system. This system is introduced with pre-jazz and then develops through an additional 5 grades.
Jazz dance includes an energetic warm-up, stretching, combinations across the floor, as well as fast-paced, technical and fun choreography! Jazz can be seen everywhere from dance music videos to hit Broadway shows.

We follow the ADAPT Syllabus in our jazz program, as well as incorporating into it the latest in L.A. and New York dance styles.
