This course is designed for personnel who are involved in applying basic risk control processes to effectively and efficiently perform a JSA (Job Safety Analysis) or JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) on any task in the workplace. This course can sometimes be referred to as JSEA (Job Safety & Environment Analysis) training within certain industries.
Participants will learn how to identify hazards, assess risk, identify unacceptable risk, implement risk treatment and complete recording documentation.
Course Subjects
Understand what a JSA is and recognise when to conduct one
Purpose of risk management process and methods
Explain risk management process relevant to the workplace
Proactively identify hazards and take action in response to risks
Apply the hierarchy of risk control
Access safety information relevant to the workplace
Use relevant reporting and recording procedures
Complete a JSA
Use JSA to improve workplace processes
Course Prerequisites
There are no restrictions on entry to this course however students are required to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to read and comprehend instruction(s).
Unit of Competency
Participants who successfully complete all components of the course will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis unit of competency.
Course Assessment
Participants will be required to demonstrate their competence by completing a Job Safety Analysis form through a practical scenario simulation.

Commonly referred to as the Fire Warden course, this unit has been designed for individuals who are required to implement an emergency response as specified in the facility emergency procedures or specified by a person at a higher level in the emergency control organisation (ECO).
The ICAM Incident investigation course prepares personnel to manage and investigate a workplace incident and utilise varied investigative tools.
This unit leaves participants with the skills and knowledge required to operate an elevating work platform under 11 metres. The work required in this unit relates to the National Standard for High Risk Work but this unit does not provide the licence.
The 3-day EWP course provides students with the knowledge and skills to operate an elevating work platform (EWP) with a boom length over 11m, and undertake the assessment required to receive their high-risk work licence.
