Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is a vital part of Safe Job Planning. We’ve all heard the adage “Fail to plan; plan to fail”. Successful businesses plan and communicate how work tasks will be accomplished before work starts. Performing a JSA identifies hazards associated with the work and helps decision makers decide what controls will be implemented in order to protect the health and safety of the workers and accomplish the work tasks as efficiently as possible.
Performing a JSA creates discussion. It helps employers walk through the steps of a job and make plans for implementation of controls including: training, equipment availability, safe work procedures and supervision. This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to perform a comprehensive JSA that takes into account the hazards of the job, the likelihood and severity of potential injury, and appropriate controls to eliminate or mitigate the hazards.
