Junior Coders (Age 7-9)

Course Overview:

Can you learn coding without a computer? This exploratory camp introduces kids to basic programming concepts, builds spatial and problem-solving skills, and instills creativity and resilience. Discover the connection between the digital and physical worlds by making friends with a tiny robot (Ozobot) and coding it to perform exciting tasks!

Course Outline:

Part 1

• Instructing a robot (Ozobot) through physical mediums
• Algorithms and sequence through physical and paper activities

Part 2

• Coding a robot (Ozobot) through a drag-and-drop computer interface
• Precision, accuracy and loops through physical and on-screen activities

Part 3

• Coding a robot (Ozobot) to respond to physical environment (loops, conditionals & event-driven programming)
• Problem solving through various map challenges

Part 4

• Coding a robot (Ozobot) to respond to physical environment (recap on loops, conditional, event-driven programming & proximity sensors)
• Problem solving through various map challenges

Part 5

• Coding a robot (Ozobot) to respond to physical environment (more advanced loops, conditional, event-driven programming & proximity sensors)
• Designing own maps and problem solving
