The junior flute (fife) is half the size of a flute, and therefore manageable by younger children. Like the recorder, it provides a good introduction to wind instrument techniques. Students may choose to play the junior flute only, or as a combination of recorder / junior flute (fife).
Parents are invited to contribute to the governance of Saturday Music Charitable trust by serving as an appointed Trustee or as a co-opted Parent Representative. Parent Representatives must have a child enrolled in Saturday Music as a condition of acting in this role. Both roles are necessary for the continuing function of the Board.
Saturday Music Charitable Trust (Inc) is a registered charity (CC29243) and is supported by the Primary School Out-of-Hours Music Scheme of the Ministry of Education. The flute is thousands of years old and versions of it can be found in the history of almost all cultures! Â You too can learn to play this beautiful instrument!
Flute classes are offered by Crawshaw Music School. We are currently the largest provider of one on one lessons on the Kapiti Coast.
