Junior Musical Theatre

The Southsea School of Dance has been teaching young people to dance for over 65 years and we are very proud of our standards. Many of our past pupils have gone on to establish successful performing careers, become professional dance teachers, or pursued careers in a multitude of related artistic fields.

Thousands more have simply enjoyed learning to dance as a satisfying personal hobby that teaches not only dance technique but those essential life skills such as discipline, endeavour, resilience, independence - as well as poise, grace and creativity.

Children can begin their dance journey with us from the age of 3yrs and we offer classes in Classical, Contemporary and Stage techniques.  We use the syllabi of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and regularly provide our students the opportunity to enter for examination by these globally respected awarding bodies.

We are very much a 'traditional' dance school in that we believe strongly in the importance of personal discipline and attention to detail in all things.  We are also inclusive and welcoming and have the desire to give each and every student the chance to be the best that they can be.

All of our teachers are highly qualified, hold current enhanced DBS certification and are insured to undertake dance classes.  They also undertake regular Continued Professional Development courses in order to be sure that the Southsea School of Dance is offering the most up to date methods of training in all aspects of our work.
