Kigai Karate Club was established in 2013 by Sensei William Graham. The club consist of three dojo’s, two in Pretoria-East at The Wilds Estate (Clubhouse) & Grootfontein Country Estate, and the 3rd dojo in George, Western Cape.
The club name ‘Kigai’ (気概 or きがい), is a Japanese term for ‘strong spirit’. It is referred to as someone who has mettle in him/her. In other words, someone who has a strong willed temper that will confront difficulty voluntarily, an ability to cope well with difficulties.
Spirit, resilience and toughness. The Kigai Karate club focuses mainly on the strict, traditional art of Shotokan JKA Karate, but is also involved with the sporting side, therefore tournaments are regularly attended.
The Karate Kids program builds on the life skills learned as a Little Dragon it builds and develop new skills like focus, discipline, integrity and perseverance, These skills will stay with them all their life.
There are over 600 muscles in the human body and you will use every one of them during an average karate class. An adult student can burn up to 1000 calories in a typical one hour karate class, with significant weight loss within the first 6 months.
Do you want to take up karate but you are too shy to join the classes? Are you interested in self-defense classes? You can learn the important and crucial techniques needed that will get you out of a sticky situation.
Karate Fit Training is offered by Soon Pretoreus Karate Academy of South Africa for all ages and skill level. I am Soon Pretorius, a fanatic and die-hard student of Karate-do with many years of experience.
