Chidokan Karate-Do is a style of Karate that originated from Shotokan Karate-Do. Many of the training techniques, kata and kihon are identical or very similar to those seen in most other Karate Dojos.
Chidokan Karate-Do is a style of Karate that originated from Shotokan Karate-Do. Many of the training techniques, kata and kihon are identical or very similar to those seen in most other Karate Dojos.
Our style focuses on building a strong foundation through kihon exercises and kata training. When Sasaki Sensei created Chidokan, he borrowed and developed a number of techniques and exercises that are a fairly unique to our style.

Karate is a Japanese martial art yet it has a rich history. Karate’s roots are believed to have originated in India, and these martial arts teachings were spread into China and then finally on to Okinawa, islands off the south coast of mainland Japan.
In the early 1900’s Japan absorbed the Okinawan Te and created the beginings of modern day Karate-Do. There are many different styles of Karate and countless more schools and training dojos, but all generally follow the same precepts or rules.
Shotokan Karate-Do is one of three main styles of Karate and was introduced to the world by Gichin Funakoshi during the early 1900′s. Funakoshi is considered the Grandfather of modern day karate as he was instrumental in introducing karate to the the Western world.
This style focuses on continuous contact and uses deflections to defeat an opponent before another attack can be launched. By using whole body movement, or Sabaki, our students learn how to avoid, defend and respond quickly and explosively to an attack, making it ideal for self defence.
Older teens, younger adults and adults participate in the same classes. At a certain age, most teenagers want to be out of a children’s class and interacting on an adult level. Our Adult Classes are a productive mix of both male and female, younger and older students.
Adults from many walks of life enjoy the immense benefits gained through martial arts training and its holistic rewards. Our community is comprised of unique individuals all searching for something different, Kyokushin Karate has that difference.
