Meii Sewing Academy was founded in April 2017. At the beginning, we were just freelance designers. We never thought about teaching courses, we thought we would always do our own designs or take orders.
By a chance, a little cosplayer asked us to teach her sewing and drawing. Unexpectedly, more and more people came to sign up for the class. In the beginning, it was door-to-door teaching.
After that, when there were more people, we rented a small classroom to start classes on Sundays. That's it, started our teaching journey.
Sewing has been around since prehistoric man made clothes from fur. But even professional tailors started somewhere – trust me, sewing is not as challenging as it looks! If The Flintstones could make their own clothes – so could you!
Our tutors are practitioners in their own right and teach you what they have learnt themselves by making and designing this coupled with the Sabah Institute of Art way of ‘thinking by doing’ makes our short courses the most effective way to learn the skills you need even if you are complete beg...
Our latest class, learn to sew bags for only RM200. Materials will be given for free, no time limit. We will teach how to make a "handle" from the basics to the finished bag. We will also teach how to make zipper and internal pocket stitches, including finishing stitches.
