On this class you will be learning how to do basic knitting, from casting on, plain knitting, purling and casting off. I will also go over how to read a pattern. We will hopefully be able to make a hat, or Peggy square blanket, by the end of the course.
A simple, fun and welcoming knitting course to help you get to grips with the basics and work on a project with like-minded people.
Peggy, a lifetime knitter will guide you through the fundamentals of knitting to get you on your way:
Week 1 – Cast on/knit
Week 2 – Purl stitch
Week 3 – Project work – hats, peggy squares
Week 4 – learning how to read a pattern
Week 5 – Working on our projects
Week 6 - Working on our projects
Week 7 – looking at other patterns, such as cables etc.
Week 8 – Cast off

This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.

This course is offered by Robyn's Cottage. Our Classes can be held weekdays or weekends and either in the morning, afternoon or in the evenings depending on demand.
In these sessions you can knit or crochet  with others while getting the support you need to start or finish articles and learn new techniques. We will support you to learn the skills you need to make the items you want! Weekly classes, 8 per term. Materials not included.Â
Crochet is great for settling the mind and encouraging relaxation. Learn to do basic stitches, read patterns and complete projects in a relaxed and friendly space – left handers very welcome.
Learn the basics of knitting in this six hour class over three sessions - casting on, knit and purl stitches, increasing and decreasing and casting off. Bring a 50gm ball of double knitting (8 ply) cotton yarn and 4mm knitting needles.
We offer workshops in knitting and crochet. Our workshops are suitable for all skill levels, from absolute beginner to the advanced crafter who is looking to sharpen their skills and connect with fellow crafters in a fun environment.Â
