Course Details

A simple, fun and welcoming knitting course to help you get to grips with the basics and work on a project with like-minded people. 

 

Peggy, a lifetime knitter will guide you through the fundamentals of knitting to get you on your way: 

Week 1 – Cast on/knit 

Week 2 – Purl stitch 

Week 3 – Project work – hats, peggy squares 

Week 4 – learning how to read a pattern

Week 5 – Working on our projects

Week 6 - Working on our projects

Week 7 – looking at other patterns, such as cables etc.

Week 8 – Cast off

This course is supported by the TEC (Tertiary Education Commission) to assist with literacy and numeracy needs of students. You must attend 80% of the class. At the same time we hope you will learn other useful and interesting skills and have a lot of fun learning with us.

  • I have been knitting for years and years! My grandmother taught me to knit when I was about 10 years old. I have done knitting for all my family, especially when my children were babies and growing up. I now knit for my grandchildren. I do all the different types of knitting, from cables to fairisle. I have knitted for a couple of companies, one of which involved making baby clothes. I am currently knitting hats to sell.
