In addition, the program offers a variety of Korean courses in a wide range of topics on Korean language and culture such as Korean studies through media, Korean civilization, Korean, and Business Korean. We have also added an Internship course as well as a Practicum course in teaching Korean as second language.
We offer a Korean Studies Certificate that declares student’s advanced level of language ability and in Korean and foundational understanding of the culture, history, socio-politics, and religions of Korea. The lower division language courses can be used to fulfill the GE foreign language requirements.

Introductory Korean is for students who cannot yet read or write in Hangeul. Students will learn to put consonants, vowels, and consonant-endings together to read and write with ease. Students will also learn basic phrases and grammar.
The School of Modern Languages’ Korean program was launched in Fall 2002, and now offers a minor program, provides first through fourth-year level language instructions, serves more than 300 students annually, and is on track to become one of the largest Korean programs in the Southeast.
This course is designed to develop basic skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in Korean. Introductory Korean B is the equivalent to the second half of First Year Korean I.
Historically Korean has not been studied by many native English speakers but this is changing, largely due to South Korea's growing role in the world economy and global popular culture.
Our academy offers comprehensive courses for students at all proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced. Our experienced instructors employ a communicative approach to develop students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Korean.
