Course Details

There are nearly 80 million Korean language speakers in the world and over 35,000 in Toronto. Studying Korean provides valuable business opportunities in Asia's third largest economy, as well as with international Korean companies such as Samsung, LG, Hyundai, and Kia.

One of the best things about learning Korean is the writing system, hangul. You can learn to read this alphabet very quickly, and since words are written phonetically, you'll soon be able to pronounce every Korean word you see.

Upon completion of Hansa's level 1 Korean course students will be able to read and pronounce basic Korean words...

Our introductory Korean course is ideal for students without any prior knowledge of the language. The textbook for this course is Integrated Korean: Beginner 1 (2nd edition), which is included in the course fee.

At this level, you will learn to read and write hangul, introduce yourself, describe others, ask for location, inquire about others' well-being, discuss school, make requests, ask about hometown and family, ask and talk about quantity, say goodbye, ask and talk about destination and purpose, describe daily activities and weekend plans, talk about likes and dislikes, ask about someone's background, and ask for and give directions.

Grammar topics include: questions, comparison, particles, describing location, polite suffixes, possessive forms, counting, sentence patterns, irregular verbs, past forms, negation, expressing probability, and connecting clauses.
