There is only one programme – the Leadership Programme. This may in turn lead to other options and activities such as boarding, mentoring, apprenticeships, work experience placements, residentials etc.

  • The above notwithstanding it is important to note that MKYLA is committed to your child’s progress irrespective  of outcomes.
  • People join MKYLA for different reasons but whatever the need, each student is placed on the LP. Students attend a series of workshops through which they focus on the core competencies shown on ‘our mission’ page. This foundation empowers these young leaders to be catalysts and agents of change in tackling real world issues, with the intention of creating positive community impact.
  • The scholars programme is accessible to those enrolled on our Leadership Programme. It is a boarding school bursary programme not aimed at the academically elite. Our goal is to identify suitable boys and girls and give them the preparation and support to succeed at entrance exams, interviews and thereafter through their experience as a boarder.

We do not learn for school, but for life.

  • MKYLA is a youth leadership organisation set up to help children and young adults develop the skills and qualities needed to be successful students and citizens.
  • Our mission is to create leaders of character and purpose for tomorrow’s world, drawn from those most in need in grassroots communities. We view education as a launchpad for this mission and as a gateway to belonging to an influential peer group who will individually and collectively exert positive influence in society.
  • The term leadership relates to the ability to manage self and be mindful of one’s impact on others.
  • Our core programme meets on Saturdays and we run workshops, seminars, lectures and experiential activities based on our core principles.
  • In practice students are assessed on entry and engaged on our own curriculum. We help students develop habits consistent with the mode of thinking of education as a career.
  • Typically, classes are 90 minutes in length and include support in literacy and numeracy, 11+ grammar school prep, drama workshops, communications and others.
