The Three-hour workshop will give you the skills to read a pattern and sew directly on to a blank fabric palette to create your own project. All materials are included. you'll take home your pattern to frame or finish as desired.
Tools and Supplies: Hoop, needle, fabric and thread plus a little bag to carry them in are included in the price of your ticket.
Pattern: See the picture of this adorable Chicago skyline in the picture above. If you would like to purchase one of the other kits, they will be discounted 10% for the day of your class only.
What you need to know: Nothing! We will start at the very beginning!
What you'll learn: Reading a cross stitch pattern, loading an embroidery hoop, sewing the cross stitch, threading a needle and tying off.
Young Crafters: We welcome young Cross Stitchers 14 and under in private lessons accompanied by parent or guardian. Please call for availability.

Message from the Owner
Though I have been a maker and crafter most of my life, I first started seriously knitting as a new mother. I needed a creative and portable outlet to occupy my hands while my children learned to sleep. It kept my mind quiet as I sat in emergency rooms and doctor’s offices, and stayed up late with me when my mind needed a few more hours to process the day. I would marvel at the beauty I could create in unquiet settings, and soon knitting became my therapist and companion.
Through the years it has grown into a close friend whom I am constantly getting to know better as our relationship has grown, and we’ve also taken on crochet together to further indulge my love of fiber arts. In recent years, I’ve used my experience as a former teacher at DePaul University and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to educate and inspire others on their own creative journeys. Working in yarn retail stores is the most rewarding role I’ve ever taken on. I love coming into a space covered wall-to-wall with luscious colors vibrating with creative possibility. I love helping people taking on a challenging pattern and watching them happily realize how many beautiful projects are within their reach. I love amplifying the talents of creative and talented designers, dyers, and artists, seeing their dreams come to life in hands of crafters of all levels. I believe everyone can benefit from working with beautiful yarns. The hallmark of a crafter is the ability to sit with the temporary awkwardness of a beginning, persevering with patience until mastery has the chance to form.
My goal is that The Bloomin' Spindle will be just as inspiring for you as knitting and the crafting community has been for me.
Join us each month as we create a new In the Hoop Kimberbell Project. Leave with a completed project and more confidence to try new things at home with your embroidery machine.
Learn the parts of your sewing machine along with sewing terms as you thread your machine, wind a bobbin, and more while sewing a little project. Find out how and when to adjust machine tension, change needles, and trouble shoot common sewing problems.
In this class we will show you how to use your embroidery machine in a more proficient manor. You will embroider using all functions with your machine, and learn some new techniques.
You will learn the principles of Bargello while working toward your first project. No previous needlepoint experience is required.
This class is free when you get your machine through Rocking Bobbin. Call us to make arrangements if you did not get your machine from us.
