In order to apply for a SAPS competency and License to own a firearm, you must complete the training for Legal (Knowledge of the firearms control Act) and Basic Unit Standard (Handle and Use of a “Firearm”) in the specific firearm you would like to own and license. Handle and Use a Manually Operated Rifle or Carbine training is offered by FCATC. FCATC has developed training material aligned to SAQA requirements and as PFTC Lead Service Provider distributes to other accredited firearm training providers.
Firearm training is offered by Wildealskloof Shooting Range. Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000, Basic Handle and Use a Handgun, Self-loading Rifle, Shotgun, Manual Operated Rifle. All these unit standards are as required for a competency certificate to possess a firearm.
