Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations

The Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations (Public Space Surveillance) has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA ‘Specifications for Learning and Qualifications for CCTV Control Room Operators (PSS)’ and provides the necessary skills and knowledge for those who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a CCTV Operative.

CCTV Operations Course

• Principles of working in the private security industry
• Principles and practice of working as a CCTV Operator in the private security industry
• Practical operations of a CCTV Equipment (Public Space Surveillance)

This qualification can enable the learner to progress onto the NVQ in Providing Security Services or undertake further learning in other areas of the private security industry such as Security Guarding or Door Supervision.

Assessment

• Working within the private security industry: This is a distant learning program and delegates will be tested on the unit during exams. To be successful, learners must get at least 70% of the total exam questions correctly
• Working as a CCTV Operative within the private security industry: This program requires a minimum of 14 contact hours and learners are expected to get at least 70% of the total questions correct to get a pass.
• Practical Operations of the CCTV Equipment: This is graded through continuous assessment of practical exercise by the tutor.
