Course Overview and Benefits

The mental health charity ‘Mind’ report 1 in 4 people will encounter a mental health challenge every year in England. Statistics published in 2020 by the HSE also show 828,000 workers in the UK suffer from “work related stress, depression or anxiety (new or long standing)”. Following a risk assessment, the HSE suggests a trained mental first aider may be beneficial to the employer in managing mental ill health in the workplace.

This comprehensive accredited two-day course has been developed by subject matters experts and provides a nominated ‘mental health first aider’ the knowledge to advise and guide those needing assistance with mental health conditions.

Candidates will learn about the role and responsibilities of a competent ‘mental health first aider’ and when to signpost employees to seek qualified professional support.

Assessment Method

The candidate must complete two multiple-choice examinations:

  • Unit 1: 15 questions completed in 30 minutes.

  • Unit 2: 25 questions completed in 50 minutes.

  • Successful candidates must achieve 60% or more in the assessment. The final grade is pass or fail.
