This course will focus on servicing those needs by developing your knowledge and skills in all areas of Creative Media and Technology using Adobe Creative Cloud, including: photography, film, TV, radio, games design, audio production, website design.
What Will I Learn?
The course focuses on developing skills and knowledge based on professional practices across a broad spectrum of technical production and industry related units, such as: audio production, interactive media, production techniques, visual production and personal project.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade D or above (including Maths and English/Welsh first Language), or equivalent level 1 qualifications
Assessment
Each unit is assessed based on the specific requirements of specifications distributed by the awarding body and includes a combination of practical, project-based assessment and written planning, research, evaluation and reflection.
Projects are designed to focus on developing skills that address the needs of local creative sector employers and industry. All units are internally assessed and externally moderated to ensure National Standards are met.
Career Progression
Building on Coleg y Cymoedd's excellent reputation as a niche provider of courses that develop unique, highly sought after industry skills, learners will work on industry related projects that prepare and encourage them to target career opportunities offered by local creative sector employers, including: Pinewood Studios, Bad Wolf Studios and BBC Wales.
The expansion of Coleg y Cymoedd's Creative Media provision will further enhance progression opportunities from our Level 1 provision onto our specialist Level 3 Creative Media Production (TV and Film) and Higher Education courses, including our Foundation Degree in Games Art and Design franchised via the University of South Wales.
Coleg y Cymoedd (meaning college of the valleys) was formed in 2013, following the merger of The College Ystrad Mynach and Coleg Morgannwg.
