To support your development of practical and technical skills, you will complete a minimum of 30 hours work experience with some of the region’s leading organisations and events, including Premier Inn, Shaping Portsmouth conference and Victorious Festival.
You will also enjoy industry trips and visits during the year locally and around the UK. Previous visits include Brighton, London Dungeons, Madame Tussauds, Warner Bros Studio tours, Weymouth, and airline simulations.
Entry requirements
A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English Language is preferrable.
What attendance is required?
This full-time programme runs for one year from September until June/July. You are expected to commit to 16 hours per week which is made up of a combination of face-to-face class sessions, online learning and independent study.
As well as learning about the travel and tourism industry here in the UK and abroad, you will be able to access tutorial support, improve on your maths and English (where applicable) and undertake a 30-hour work experience placement in a travel and tourism related, customer facing role.
How is the course assessed?
Primarily assessed by coursework. Assignments are a mixture of written assessments, role plays/industry simulation, short answer questions and presentations both in groups and individually. There are also two multiple-choice exam elements which are completed online.
What does this course lead on to?
You can progress on to a Level 3 NCFE Introductory Diploma in Travel and Tourism or other suitable Level 3 programmes. You can progress into a variety of entry level roles within the travel and tourism sector.

This one-year, full-time course will equip you with the specialist knowledge, practical and personal skills you need to become a member of aircraft cabin crew and to pursue a career in the aviation industry.
Compulsory units on the programme are Customer Service, Hospitality within Travel and Tourism, UK airports and Airlines, Careers within Travel and Tourism and Travel Agencies Work experience will be carried out over two weeks and will be undertaken in local travel/hospitality related businesses.
