This qualification will support learners to develop the knowledge and skills required to work in a range of clinical healthcare support settings and in adult care environments.

What you'll learn

Throughout this course you will cover a wide range of areas including dementia awareness, mental health and well-being, supporting individuals with their physical and emotional care, daily living needs and healthcare procedures.

On this course, you will learn:

  • Communication in care settings

  • Handle information in care settings

  • Personal development in care settings

  • Implement person-centred approaches in care settings

  • Equality and inclusion in care settings

  • Health, safety and well-being in care settings

  • Responsibilities of a care worker

  • Duty of care

  • Safeguarding and protection in care settings

Entry requirements

Youll need Functional Skills level 1 in English to join the course.

You'll also need to be at least working towards Maths Functional Skills.

A placement is required to get the qualification, and you'll need to arrange this yourself.

Entry to this course is dependent on the outcome of a Disclosing and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Our teaching staff

Our staff are here to support you in your learning journey. They all have recent industry experience, and many of them continue to work in care alongside their teaching.

Work experience

Your placement will be for 2 days a week, and total 420 hours across the year.

With this level of work experience under your belt, you'll be in a much better position when it comes to further study or finding a job.

What this course leads to

Successfully completing this course means you can move onto the Level 3 programme.

Alternatively you can look to work in a nursing home, a day-care centre, clinical health centres or as home help.
