Course Structure

This course is completed partially as a distance learning qualification by:

  • Individual research at home under the guidance of your personal assessor

  • Telephone assessment appointments to discuss your evidence and/or submitting written evidence to your assessor

There is mandatory observation of teaching and delivery of learning in classroom environment against a lesson plan, required for this qualification.

There are no exams required to achieve the qualification

Who can enrol for this course?

Must be aged 19+. The qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the further education and training skills sector and is intended for those who wish to gain knowledge and understanding of this sector.

Entry requirements

This qualification requires you to have a minimum of level 2 in English, Maths and ICT.

What will I learn by taking this course

To achieve this qualification, learners must attain at least 12 credits. Learners must attain 3 credits by achieving the mandatory unit contained in Group A, plus a minimum of 6 credits from the units contained in the optional Group B, and at least 3 credits from the units contained in the optional Group C

  • Facilitate learning and development in groups (Credit Value 6)

  • Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (Credit Value 3)

  • Understanding assessment in education and training (Credit Value 3)
