Course summary

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training qualification provides an introduction for those new to teaching and training or those wishing to teach or train. It is designed as a qualification, which will equip a wide range of teachers and facilitators with the basics they need to teach.

It does not entitle candidates to teach in the sector, but it is an entry qualification which allows progression to the Certificate in Education and Training and/or the Diploma in Education and Training. The qualification is suitable for those who work or want to work as:

  • Teachers in the further education and skills sector, including adult and community education, work-based learning and the voluntary sector, provided they are qualified/experienced in the subject they intend to teach.

  • Technicians and support staff in further and adult education.

  • Training personnel in commerce, industry, the public sector, the uniformed services or HM Forces.

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training qualification is designed to enable candidates to:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a teacher and the relationship between different professionals in education and training.

  • Understand and use inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training.

  • Understanding the principles and practices of assessment.
