Units include:
anatomy and physiology
developing coaching and leadership skills
sports development
sport psychology
nutrition
planning and leading a sports event.
Your timetable will have practical and theory embeded into it. You will also have access to trips specific to this course, related to other areas. You will also be provided with opportunities for volunteering, and personal enterprise, all of which are excellent items to put on a future job application.
Entry requirements
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English language and maths. You will also need grade 5 or above in physical education.
What attendance is required?
The expectation of your attendance must be above 90%.
You will have a 9.55am start, one lesson in the morning, one in the afternoon and a guaranteed 4pm finish. You will also have at least one morning and one afternoon per week free for private study.
How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed through practical and theory based assessments of which some will be internally and some will be externally assessed.
What does this course lead on to?
On completion of this course, you can progress to higher education, a degree level course or an apprenticeship/job in the sporting sector. The course is diverse enough to develop you towards careers in coaching, teaching, sports psychology, sports therapy, sports science or nutrition.
