This two-year course in Creative Digital Media will give you the skills and knowledge to develop a professional portfolio and carve a pathway into HE or the media industry. If you’re set on a career as director, producer, vision mixer, editor, camera operator or anything to do with content creation then this is the perfect course for you.
The course is split into units that will teach you how the industry works and more importantly, the hands-on production skills that you will need.
During the course, you will use the latest industry standard digital equipment to produce your work. No media production experience is required but an interest in digital content creation is a must. You will be involved in subjects that will help you specialise for your chosen career path, or passion and enthusiasm for the media industries.
Following successful completion of this 2-year course you will receive a Level 3 qualification in Creative Media Practice, up to 168 UCAS points and the equivalent of 3 A Levels. The course is also recognised by employers and apprenticeship schemes.

You will have the confidence and motivation to sell your ideas to the most influential media companies and you will develop and hone your skills to a professional standard.
From planning and research to bringing your ideas to life in a variety of creative work this course offers a unique experience.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to plan, research, develop, record and edit visual, audio and interactive media products to industry standard.
You will be involved in projects that will help you specialise for your chosen career in the creative industries, or study at a higher level.
You will have the opportunity to attend various media trips and visits, work on live assignment briefs for ‘real’ clients and have the opportunity to be involved in exciting enrichment, and work experience projects with external clients.
Our facilities boast a TV studio which includes a professional gallery and green screen facilities, a large collection of digital equipment, including a range of high end DSLR cameras and sound recording equipment. Lessons are delivered in double screen PC suites, equipped with Adobe editing and digital manipulation software.
You will be given a personal licence for the full Adobe Creative suite that you can also use on your home computer. Support with your next steps is delivered through a unit of assessed work on the course and as a result of this, trips, visits and external lectures form a valuable tool for learners to inform their future decisions.
Entry qualifications
You are required to have 4 GCSEs grade 9 to 4 including maths and/or English.
A demonstrable interest in the media sector is essential.
No previous experience of video production is necessary; however, a strong interest in the production process is beneficial.
A successful interview with a media tutor where you will be expected to bring examples of work that demonstrates your skills and creativity.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
How is this course assessed?

On this course, you will receive project briefs that will introduce you to a scenario, question or creative problem to solve. You will be assessed through a variety of practical media products that you devise and produce over the course of a range of developmental units.
Your final assessment grade for the course will come through a Final Major Project where you will produce a media product of your choosing, as we aim to assess you to your strengths and interests.
This is a graded course where you can achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction.
What can I do next?
Some of our learners go straight from their Level 3 course to the media industry confidently and work as a runner, production assistant or in digital marketing.
Many of our learners go onto higher education courses such as media production, radio production, graphic design or film production.
An Apprenticeship or Degree Level Apprenticeship within the creative industries.
