Course Overview
Early Years Educators are highly trained professionals who play a key role in ensuring that young children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. They work in a range of settings including full day care, children’s centres, pre-schools, reception classes and as childminders.
The purpose of the Level 3 Years Educator is to plan and supervise child initiated and adult led activities which are based around the needs and interests of each individual child. Learners will support children to develop numeracy and language skills through games and play.
They will also have key responsibilities to help ensure each child feels safe and secure. With additional experience, an Early Years Educator can progress onto a manager role within an early year setting.
Learners without Level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking their end point assessment, this can be achieved alongside their apprenticeship. Learners must also successfully complete one of the following: The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid, The Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid.
End Point Assessment Process
The Level 3 Early Years Educator consists of two discrete assessment methods:
Professional discussion
Knowledge test
The performance of the learners End Point Assessment will determine their overall apprenticeship standard and grade.

We have a range of funding solutions to support employers, subject to individual eligibility, this includes Advanced Learning Loans and Apprenticeship Funding. In addition, we are working with key stakeholders and partners to secure other funding opportunities that we can identify to offset your training costs such as bursary funding – we will discuss these with you from the start to identify which funding route makes the training as cost-effective as possible.
Our offer to you includes the recruitment and screening of any apprenticeship learner, we will work with local schools, colleges, job centres to promote your vacancies. We have a network of contacts, partnerships and resources to make this offer alone a distinct advantage – at no cost to you.
You should also allow for 80 additional learning hours for pre-course preparation, reading, research, assignment writing, lesson preparation and record keeping.
This course can be completed in as little as 6 weeks. Depending on the units taken the Average learning time is between 48-61 hours. This course has a limit of 6 months to complete from enrolment date.
