Welcome to Merseyside Society for Deaf People
We are here to advance equality for people with hearing loss across Merseyside. We provide specialist services in a range of communication methods for people who are d/Deaf, Deaf-blind or hard of hearing.
Our team delivers community based social care, duty drop-in sessions and environmental aids assessments. Our tutors provide specialist training in Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language as well as BSL interpreter support.
We are proud to be the home of one of the largest Deaf Social Clubs in the country. Our communities and many social groups are at the heart of everything we do.
This course will demonstrate how people consciously and unconsciously signal their attitudes, desires and feelings through their body language.Â
The course will introduce the group to sign language and all individuals to be able to do some basic signing, interpret others doing basic signs and to have a general deaf awareness.
British Sign Language (BSL) is an incredibly useful language to learn. Whether you hope to use it at work or at home, these evening classes will help you become a better, and more inclusive, communicator.
The course, led by tutor John Carberry MBE was very engaging and insightful. The students learnt about the deaf community and some of the struggles they experience.
This course enables you to build on your existing skills when it comes to British Sign Language (BSL) and aims to develop your skills in order to establish social relations, transact the business of everyday living and to understand presentations for information, pleasure and vocational needs.
