This course is designed to provide a coherent programme of professional training for those working in / wishing to work in post-compulsory education and training, including untrained part-time FE / HE tutors, adult and community tutors, youth work tutors, fire and police officers, health professionals, industrial / commercial trainers, private trainers, armed forces personnel and educational support workers operating in any industrial capacity for a considerable part of their working day.
Graduates will be enrolled onto Professional graduate Certificate in education and non-graduates onto the Professional Certificate in education (Pcet)

Please note from academic year 2025/2026 - Student Finance Wales are currently capping any funding at £2625 for each year of study, this will mean a £210 shortfall for each year of study is applicable for this course (which will need to be self funded by you the learner)
What Will I Learn?
The emphasis on the course is 'learning by doing' and you will be given ample opportunity to develop the skills and techniques of a good teacher. The academic components of the course are modular based and include elements such as curriculum teaching and learning methods, planning and assessing learning plus option modules.
Learners are expected to make their own arrangements in order to obtain 100 hours supervised practical experience (teaching practice). This will be performed during the course of the two years.
Entry Requirements
You will be required to hold a degree in your chosen subject and be able to demonstrate relevant industrial, professional or commercial experience where appropriate.
The minimum qualification is Degree (Level 6).
Assessment
You will be assessed through a mixture of written case studies, presentations, reports and other portfolio requirements.
Career Progression
Our graduates have a proven track record of moving into fulltime and permanent teaching posts This course will help graduates develop confidence and skills in working with a range of people and using the latest technology and media. It will also prepare you for further study.
After completing the course, you could have a career as a PcET practitioner within the Post Compulsory Education and Training sector, eg Further Education (FE), Training Providers, Adult and Community Learning and Work Based Learning.
Recent graduates have gained full and part time employment across the sector and many of our past graduates actively support the course as mentors for our new student teachers.
