Course Details

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and understand the relevant workplace health and safety legislation, standards and codes of practice.
  • Communicate effectively using appropriate equipment.
  • Assess the task to be completed.
  • Use the hierarchy of controls to identify potential hazards and implement control measures.
  • Inspect ground suitability.
  • Identify the limitations of different types of rigging, safety and other equipment.
  • Calculate safe work loads and working load limits.
  • Read and interpret basic structure charts and structure plans (site information).
  • Erect, dismantle, level, plumb and stabilize plant and structures.
  • Work safely at heights and use the correct safety equipment.
  • Make temporary connections of ropes using fibrous and synthetic types, splice and whip fibre and synthetic ropes.
  • Store equipment according to appropriate standards.

 

A person performing this work is required to hold a High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) for Rigging Basic (RB) or be enrolled in the course through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and under the supervision of a HRWL holder.


Outcomes:

  • This course is national recognised (accredited)
  • Participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of the unit of competency.
  • Successful participants will receive an Assessment Summary which is required to apply for your High Risk Work Licence with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland. Applications for High Risk Work Licences must be made within 60 days of course completion.
